Josh served as a caregiver to his grandmother who suffered from Alzheimer’s for almost 8 years. This was a sad, but rewarding experience. Caring for his grandmother really opened his eyes to how difficult it can be to care for a loved one’s declining health, and the experience gave him empathy for others who are also dealing with a similar experience. Josh received

his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in May 2019. He has a passion for helping others with whatever mental instabilities they may be suffering from, and also caring for his grandmother has definitely influenced his decision to study Psychology. He has been inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology, and Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society for Counseling. He returned to Delta State in the fall of 2019 and is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling. When he is not caring for his grandmother or studying, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, playing with his dog Noaa, and researching or forecasting the weather. He enjoys creating forecasts for his online blog, and sharing them to social media for his many followers. He has been creating his own forecasts on social media since 2012. He creates original forecasts through analyzation and interpretation of various weather data. His weather forecasts cover the Mississippi Delta, and his weather forecasting skill has been endorsed by Meteorologist Zach Hatcher, who is a graduate of The University of Tennessee at Martin. Josh is also a member of the American Meteorological Society. In addition, he is a Certified Storm Spotter with the National Weather Service in Jackson, MS. He was recently offered a weather anchor position at The Delta News by Meteorologist Christopher Mathis, but due to Josh’s schedule, he unfortunately had to decline the offer. He also served as a Biological Science Aid at the United States Department of Agriculture for two non-consecutive years. He gained a great deal of work experience and learned many facts related to plant biology. Recently, he returned to the USDA part-time as a Biological Science Aid. In September 2020, Josh became the weather forecaster for The Enterprise-Tocsin newspaper in Indianola, MS. Josh’s purpose is to provide more than just another platform to receive basic weather information, but to go more in depth for those interested in the nuts and bolts behind the forecast. Hopefully, you’ll learn something about weather and meteorology through Josh’s discussions. His primary goal is to keep his followers safe with our wild, Mississippi weather!…God bless!

10:30 PM, Tuesday, June 23 E-T Radar Check:

The batch of storms to our west seems to be holding together for now; if they continue to hold together, we can expect to see storms entering western portions of the Delta around Midnight-1 am or so, and continue moving east before exiting around 3-4 am. The primary concerns would be strong, gusty winds, lightning, heavy downpours, and perhaps some small hail. Again, that is if these hold together and don’t fall apart…God bless

E-T Weather Update Tuesday Evening, June 23:

The latest high resolution models are indicating a batch of storms *could* make into the Delta from the west by around 4 am moving east through the Delta and exiting around 9 am. Some models are indicating more development during the afternoon and evening, but that is not set in stone. Storms could produce heavy downpours, lightning, gusty wind, and perhaps some small hail. We will see if this batch of storms holds together tomorrow morning or fizzles out prior to reaching the Delta. Lows tonight will be in the 70s with highs in the upper 80s.

We get into a drier pattern Thursday through the weekend with highs climbing back into the lower to middle 90s, and combined with humidity it will feel even hotter. Expect a mix of sun and clouds each day. Lows will be in the middle to upper 70s…God bless

E-T Weather Update Sunday Afternoon, June 21:

We will continue to remain in an unsettled, summer patter ln through much of this week before drying out Friday into the weekend.

Some isolated to scattered showers and storms will be possible this afternoon and early evening; any storms that develop could produce heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty wind. Highs will be in the 80s with lows in the lower 70s.

Scattered showers and storms will be possible Monday through Thursday. Monday could feature heavy rain of 1-3 inches, and a Marginal Risk for strong to severe storms. Strong wind and small hail will be the primary concerns as storms move from north to south. Highs through Thursday will be in the 80s with lows in the lower 70s.

We climb back into the lower 90s with lows in the 70s and a mix of sun and clouds Friday through the weekend…God bless

An unsettled, summer-like pattern will be in place through the weekend and much of next week. Showers and storms will be possible each day, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours on an isolated to scattered basis. Highs will be in the 80s with lows in the lower 70s.

Storms that do develop could produce gusty wind, lightning, heavy rain, and potentially some small hail in the stronger storms.

If you have outdoor plans this weekend, keep an eye on the weather and be prepared to go indoors should a storm develop over your area.

E-T Weather Update Wednesday Evening, June 17:

Some showers and maybe a few storms will be possible Thursday into Thursday night due to moisture from the tropical system. It won’t rain everywhere or all day, and the bulk of the heavier rain and storms will be to our south and east.

Friday into the weekend and the beginning of next week will feature the option for isolated to scattered showers and storms each day, primarily during the afternoon and evening. Some storms could produce gusty wind, heavy downpours, lightning, and potentially some small hail. A brief, weak tornado can’t be ruled out.

We trend drier by the middle and end of next week.

Rainfall totals across the Delta will be up to 1-2 inches when all is said and done.

Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90 through the middle of next week.

As far as flooding is concerned, I’m thinking the highest threat will remain south of the Delta; along and south of I-20…God bless

E-T Weather Update Monday Evening, June 15:

Other than a slight chance for some isolated storms tonight, the majority of the Delta looks to remain dry. Lows will be around 70 degrees with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Tuesday will feature highs in the lower 80s and lows in the 68-73 degree range with a slight chance for a shower or storm.

Expect dry conditions Wednesday and much of Thursday. Highs will be in the 80s to near 90 degrees both days with a mix of sun and clouds. Lows will be in the lower to middle 70s.

The forecast models have been going back and forth on where the heaviest rain will be. Per the latest model guidance this evening, the majority of the heavy rain will be south of HWY 82, and along and south of I-20. Within these areas, 2-5 inches of rain will be possible. For areas along and north of HWY 82, rainfall totals will be around an inch or less.

A disturbance in the Gulf will bring an abundance of moisture back into the region by the end of the week and weekend. This will be the culprit for showers and storms.

Showers and storms could begin Thursday night with heavier downpours at times, especially south of HWY 82. We will remain in an unsettled pattern Friday into the weekend and into the beginning of next week, though each day won’t be a washout and it likely won’t rain everywhere. Storms that do develop could produce gusty wind, lightning, heavy downpours, and perhaps some small hail. An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out, though the threat for that is very low.

Keep in mind, this is a rather difficult forecast, and things will likely change over the next few days, so continue to check back for updates here in the E-T Weather Center…God bless

E-T Weather Update Sunday Morning, June 14:

Highs today will range between 89-92 degrees with lows between 68-72 degrees amid mainly sunny to partially cloudy skies.

Per the latest model guidance, we may miss out on the bulk of the rain tonight through Tuesday. There are some discrepancies among the models, but I’m leaning more toward us remaining mostly dry, with a slight chance for a few showers or storms tonight through Tuesday.

Highs Monday will be in the lower 80s with lows in the upper 60s to near 70 amid a mix of sun and clouds. Much of the same for Tuesday.

Wednesday will feature highs in the 88-93 degree range with lows in the middle 70s amid mainly sunny to partially cloudy skies. Winds will be gusty throughout the day.

Rain and storm chances return Thursday through the weekend; as of now, I’m not expecting it to rain everywhere nor will it be a washout any given day, but isolated to scattered showers and storms will be possible each day. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s to near 90 degrees. Lows will be in the 70s for the most part.

We will continue to keep you abreast of any changes to the forecast throughout the day; if storms can develop and become widespread tonight and Monday, and that’s a big IF, expect heavy downpours at times, with thunder and lightning and some gusty wind. No severe weather is expected…God bless

E-T Weather Update Thursday Evening, June 11:

Hot, humid conditions will persist through the weekend with highs in the lower 90s and lows in the 70s amid a mix of sun and clouds. Looking over the latest model data, rain and storm chances have decreased Friday and Saturday; keep in mind, a few isolated storms could develop each day primarily during the afternoon and evening hours, so if you have outdoor plans be sure to keep an eye on the weather.

Better moisture will be in place Sunday and Monday, which will mean and increase in the coverage of rain and storms. During this time, 2-5 inches of rain will be possible across the Delta, which could lead to some localized flash flooding concerns. Fortunately, we aren’t expecting any severe weather, but heavy downpours, lightning, gusty wind, and the potential for some small hail in the stronger storms will be possible.

Highs Monday will be near 80 degrees with lows in the 60s.

We trend drier Tuesday through Friday with highs in the middle 80s Tuesday before climbing back into the upper 80s and lower 90s Wednesday through Friday…God bless

E-T Weather Update Monday Evening, June 8:

Hot, humid conditions will persist throughout week. Highs will be in the 90s with lows in the 70s amid mostly sunny skies through Thursday.

Rain and storm chances return Friday into the weekend in an isolated to scattered basis meaning it won’t be a total washout any given day, but if you have outdoor plans, be sure to keep an eye on the weather. Any storms that develop could produce heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty wind, along with a small chance for some small hail in the strongest storms. It won’t rain everywhere, but be prepared for passing showers or storms at any point, especially during the afternoon and evening hours (2 pm-9 pm).

Highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s this weekend with lows in the 70s…God bless
