Simpson College’s TRIO program welcomed new director Carissa Deming on Sept. 11 amid staff changes, with two positions still vacant. Deming and the team are focused on collaboration, advocacy, and supporting the 200+ students TRIO serves on campus.

Softball superstar Megan Heidelbauer has been awarded the Rawlings Gold Glove Award for being one of the top defensive players in Division III. With 348 putouts, a 0.994 fielding percentage, and 15 home runs, Heidelbauer’s hard work and dedication paid off in a big way.

Lambda Chi Alpha hosted its second annual Helping Hand Run and Jam 5K on Sept. 6, raising over $2,100 and collecting 68 cans of food and many articles of clothing for The Helping Hand.

Simpson College’s women’s tennis team picked up its first win of the season against Grand View on Sept. 8, highlighted by juniors Grace Peck and Coilee Hynek with senior Savana Walls. The men’s team fell 6-1 but saw bright spots, including first-year Henry Godar’s first two collegiate varsity wins.
