After eight years together and a love story years in the making, Sabrina + Austen knew they wanted an intentionally planned entire weekend in Cedar Rapids. π
βOur wedding planning journey became deeply emotional and intentional. My mom was a first-generation immigrant from Jalisco, Guadalajara, and she always laid the foundation for my sisters and me to embrace and celebrate our heritage. After her passing just months before our wedding, it became even more important to us that our wedding reflected my culture because that is such a big part of who I am and who she raised me to be.
I found meaningful ways to include her presence, like her cherished rosary, a traditional Mexican lasso ceremony as our unity ritual, a memorial moment we held to honor both my mom and my husbandβs mom, incorporating Spanish into our vows, and our amazing DJ wove in Spanish music throughout the night.
Our wedding was a true reminder that even loss, love and culture have a way of carrying you forward and thatβs something weβll cherish forever.β -Sabrina (bride) π€
