Ryan Güt Launches Solo Project with Debut Album “The Shastafarian”

Known for his work with Stöner, Brant Bjork, Mario Lalli & the Rubber Snake Charmers, and more, Güt is releasing his debut solo album The Shastafarian on May 23, 2026.

Recorded in the Coachella Valley at Church Studios, the album showcases Güt as a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer — performing every instrument on the record himself. Blending desert rock grooves with psychedelic, classic rock, and jazz influences, The Shastafarian is designed to be experienced from start to finish, especially on vinyl.

An intimate listening party will be held Saturday, May 23 from 2–4 PM at .hifi in Indio. 🎧

is redefining what a movie theater can be in the Coachella Valley.

In a streaming-first world, general manager and programmer Zach Solomon is building something grounded in community, discovery, and shared experience—bringing together blockbuster films, indie releases, filmmaker Q&As, and local collaborations under one roof.

“I really feel like this is all one big city, and all of these places are neighborhoods,” Solomon says. “I really want to be a distinct movie theater in the Coachella Valley that people are willing to come from further out to support because what we’re doing with programming is unique.”

At the heart of his vision is a simple idea: cinema should still feel alive.

“What makes an experience cinematic is quality of sound and visual,” he says. “But it’s also cultural and community-based.”

From partnerships with local venues like .hifi to filmmaker conversations and grassroots screening series, Festival Theaters is becoming more than a place to watch movies—it’s becoming a place to experience them.

The Palm Springs Art Museum’s new exhibition, Lake Verea: DarkRooms and Other Games, reimagines iconic desert architecture through hauntingly beautiful nighttime photography.

Mexico City artist duo Lake Verea captures legendary homes like Richard Neutra’s Kaufmann House and Albert Frey’s Frey House II under full moonlight, revealing an entirely different side of Palm Springs modernism.

The exhibition also features tactile “frottragraphy” works created by rubbing paper across architectural surfaces — blending photography, touch, and storytelling into one immersive experience.

Featuring works by Francisca Rivero-Lake & Carla Verea
On View: May 9, 2026 – September 13, 2026

Unveiled for the 40th Anniversary of Pride, the Palm Springs Pride Monument at Frances Stevens Park—created by artist Jim Isermann—brings together three historic symbols of LGBTQ+ identity: the lambda, the triangle, and the rainbow.

Each element tells a deeper story. The lambda, adopted after Stonewall, represents change and momentum. The triangle, once a mark of persecution, was reclaimed as a global symbol of resistance and activism. And the rainbow—expanded to include black, brown, and transgender pride colors—reflects the full spectrum of the community, honoring both diversity and those we’ve lost.

Dedicated on October 18, 2025, and gifted to the City by Palm Springs Pride, the monument stands as both a tribute and a reminder of the progress still ahead. Paired with the Digital Archive Wall of Honor, it preserves the voices and stories that shaped the Coachella Valley.
