As wildfires rage across L.A. County, spanning from Pacific Palisades to Altadena, the destruction has reached historic levels, with at least nine churches in the Altadena area—including Hillside Tabernacle City of Faith and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church—completely destroyed.

Pastor Tyrone Skinner of Metropolitan Baptist Church, now under evacuation, shared: “It’s looking pretty bad, but we’re still trusting God. For now, the church is standing, but everything around it is gone.” Tragically, Rodney Nickerson, a beloved deacon, is among the lives lost.

Local churches are rallying to provide emergency resources, but the need is immense. Faith leaders like Pastor Brandon Lamar of Victory Baptist Church are spearheading efforts to house displaced families and support those who’ve lost everything.
