Some losses hit differently.
Many of you probably remember Miss Annie, our beautiful reactive girl who stayed with us back in March. We just received the heartbreaking news that she crossed the Rainbow Bridge last night.
I love every single one of my au pair babies, but Annie... Annie was something special.
She was one of my very first clients back in Port Charlotte, and she taught me so much about patience, trust, and the incredible resilience of dogs. Annie wasn't given an easy start in life. She came from abuse. She found herself as a senior in a shelter... But then, her mom found her, adopted her, and completely changed her story.
She never stopped fighting for Annie.
She advocated for her, protected her, understood her, and gave her the retirement years every dog deserves. The bond they shared was something truly beautiful to witness. That trust extended to me as well, and even after I moved over 150 miles away, Annie made the trip to come see me again.
That is something I will never forget.
People often ask why I call this business "Your Pet Au Pair" instead of simply boarding or pet sitting. It's because once your pet becomes part of this family, they become my family too.
Right now, I'm helping Mr. Milo recover from his life-saving surgery. I'm caring for Parmesan while he heals from his procedure. And alongside their families, I find myself grieving two incredible souls we've recently had to say goodbye to—Daisy Mae and now Annie.
My heart hurts for Annie's mom. I know there is an emptiness that words can't describe.
Run free, sweet Annie. No more fear. No more worry. Just endless fields to run through and all the peace you were always meant to have.
Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for your kisses, your stubbornness, your bravery, and for reminding all of us that even the most broken hearts can learn to love again.
You will always be one of my au pair babies.
And you will always be family. ❤️🐾🌈
