Sijay James, joined Learning to Grow with DJ Mkulima - The Farmer for the kick off 2026 Shambhala Music Festival The Living Room Stage feature artist interview!

Sijay James has been part of the rave movement since 1996 when he caught the vinyl bug in the earlier days of the Vancouver electronic dance music scene. His love of music, dance and cultural evolution has fueled a 3+ decade career in the field. Over the years he has played numerous roles, including but not limited to DJ, VJ, Graphic Design, event production, marketing, harm reduction and conference designer. A resident of Nelson BC since 2008, Sijay has also been a creative force in the graphic design and art direction of numerous festivals, including a tenure as art director and lead graphic design for Shambhala, playing a crucial role in the development of each event behind the scenes. As a DJ his sets have become synonomous with downtempo bass as a champion of the chill zone environment.

This episode is dedicated to Ookpik. May your memories of falling to sleep in my arms to Sijay's lullabies always be in your heart. I love you Ookpik 💚🦉

Making her festival debut at Shambhala’s 25th anniversary event, Shmani combines here catchy lyrical compositions with hard-hitting yet melodic bass lines.
