BE ON THE LOOKOUT!!! High-Improver/Intermediate Line Dance Workshops coming soon! These workshops will be 4-5 hours and you will learn several dances from Nancy Dow (Adirondack Kickin’ with Nancy and Stompin’ for a Cause) and Michelle Nordberg (Line Dance 4 Joy). Look for the first one the first half of September! Michelle and Nancy will be fresh off of the New England Line Dance Showstopper event in RI and ready to bring that energy (and probably some brand-new dances) to you! Both are seasoned dancers and local instructors who provide detailed instruction to help you get to the top of your line dance game. And of course, I’ll be there too – like I would miss this??!! Keep your eyes peeled for the Facebook events with date/time/location and other juicy details!

Got to take an intermediate class last night with my friend (and mentor) Steve Cavanaugh and I always learn so much when I go! It can be hard as an instructor to keep up on your own improvement (because we have to spend a lot of time prepping and practicing for our classes) but I think it’s so important! Steve did a great job teaching this new one “Take A Look At Yourself” by Simon Ward and Jo Thompson Szymanski, 2 wall, 48ct, intermediate level

Friday night was a fun one in Alburgh! I was going to crop out the table from this but it kind of tells a story about this group. What you see: veggies from Jeanne's garden that she brought in to share, Denise's new BTLLD tshirt, drinks with friends, the long table lots of folks share, pictures printed up from our appearance in the local 4th of July parade, folks on the dance floor having fun, me calling at the front, Michelle (my friend and instructor who teaches at other places) helping out at the back, people NOT ON THEIR PHONES AND DOING SOMETHING TOGETHER. What you CAN'T see, everyone talking and visiting before and during class, people helping each other on the floor, people asking about someone who isn't there that night, people trying something brand new, the million times we laugh with each other, the hard work people on the dance floor are putting in to be better dancers, Michelle and I talking about our classes and how we try to make the classes the best experience possible for whomever shows up on any given night.

I was never sure who was going to be interested my line dancing class here but the community that has grown around line dancing here is truly something wonderful. Sure, the line dancing has come a long way and I'm suuuuper proud of everyone and how much they have learned and continue to learn - it blows my mind! But I'm equally proud of what has happened with everyone BETWEEN THE LINES. Thank you to everyone taking this journey with me and for our dance family!!!

Ok, dances we did and I'm probably missing some - a lot of verbal requests so I don't have my list this time! If I forgot a dance, please mention it in the comments!

Hello to all of the new followers to my page! My name is Jessica Hall and I am owner/operator of Between the Lines Line Dancing! I am a native Vermonter living in Brookline, MA but I teach line dance classes in MA, VT, and NY. I’m a Mom and Grandma, and an Executive Assistant by trade. I’m a nature lover, live music lover, a cat lover, and I love traveling to new places!!
My line dance journey started around 1995, a few months after I had my oldest son. I absolutely loved it but struggled to make the time for line dancing in my New Mom calendar, so I stopped. I didn’t start doing any kind of dancing again until 2008 (at 35 years old) when I fell in love with Zumba. That ignited a passion for dancing that continues to this day! Since then, I’ve done Street Jazz, Contemporary dance, Bollywood, Heels classes, and Latin Dancing (think “Jack of all trades, master of none” LOL). I found line dancing again in 2024 and I fell right back in love with it.
In September 2025, I started my own beginner class in Alburgh, VT on Friday nights because I wanted to bring line dancing back to the place that I started, and it has been nothing short of wonderful!! The only thing I love better than line dancing is sharing it with other people. It has brought so much joy to my life and I want to pass that joy along. The dance community there has grown into something so beautiful, and I am proud of what we’ve created together. Since then, I’ve also started teaching in MA and NY doing classes, fundraisers, and pop-up events and it’s been amazing to get to know folks, seeing the progress they have made, and seeing their confidence grow as well. I’m so honored to be a part of people’s line dance journeys no matter where I teach!
Now, I line dance wherever and whenever I can. I love going to check out different classes (I just went to classes in Washington state and Wyoming while I was there visiting!) and learning from different instructors. A few times a year I attend weekend long events (NELDS in RI, as well as NYSOL, Mishnock Weekend, and Adirondack Country Line Dance Fest in NY). These weekend long events inspired me to put on the 1st Annual Points North Line Dance Jamboree on May 31, 2026. Over 200 dancers from VT, NY, and Canada attended my event, making it Vermont’s largest line dancing event! I’m currently planning the 2027 Jamboree 😊
Hope to see you on a dance floor somewhere, sometime soon!

I do love me a box of shuffles and this dance in general! And don’t come for me about the sailor heels, choreographer says you can opt out on those 👍🏻 “One More Silver Dollar” by Dustin Valcalda
