How many times have you left an event with pages of notes, only to do absolutely nothing with them later?

For me, too many to even count. We’ve all been there.

And, don’t get me wrong, I believe deeply in the power of a speaker who captivates and inspires a room, duh!

But what happens after the speaker steps off the stage?

Where do the audience’s follow-up questions go?

How can attendees actually apply what they just learned, on the spot? Maybe even expand their knowledge?

In my latest blog post, I share the one event trend I think we need to adopt to curate creative, immersive, and intentional experiences that lead to real connections.

This is for in-person event organizers, anyone who hires speakers, and even speakers themselves!

I spent years of my life as a kid visiting my mom’s Pueblo and making memories with my family there.

Being able to make new memories, but now with my mom present, will always hit different.

Feliz día de La Madres a todas las mamás que cambiaron una generación entera porque tuvieron la valentía, visión, y la mentalidad de “no me rajo”. Your legacy will live on for generations to come. ♥️

And thank you for the wisdom you’ve always shared through your stories because that now shapes how we speak and transmit on stages. You’re with us on every stage we take.

The start to a new month doing what I love. 🎤💙

What we covered:

Creating a leader story based on lived experience, not what a leader “should be”

Common workplace scenarios where you have to communicate clearly & efficiently + the frameworks to do so.

Including:
- Presenting a new idea
- 3 ways to answer questions off the cuff, depending on the type of question you receive.
- How to be active participants in meetings, a tu manera.

I often share this reflection with my mom when I’m feeling accomplished or something really cool happens:

I am no one special. The accomplishment isn’t just because I’m “good at what I do”. My talents are cool, but they also had the privilege to see the light of day. I’ve been able to express, to explore, and to create more or less, freely.

Being born into the exact life that I did, though not perfect, is special.

There is someone out there with similar thoughts that can’t express.

Someone with the brain of a literal genius, that doesn’t have the access to practice their craft.

Someone who didn’t get a chance from the very beginning.

I try to unlearn the voices that tell me that I need to live up to anything or that I have to make my mom’s efforts of immigrating to the U.S. when she was 15, worth it.

But tbh. I think I do. I do need to live up to that story. I have an opportunity to live my story because she changed hers.

That’s pretty damn powerful.

Taking the Tedx stage felt like an accomplishment, not because of its name, but because I continue to try to show up in spaces that once intimidated me, as me.

I’ll be sharing more on my talk across platforms in the coming days & weeks. You know, this introvert is introverting…

For now, thank you to every single person that talked me through the “yes”
