I walked into a new coffee shop today and the very first thing out of my mouth was:

“This place is so Instagrammable.” 😂

My sister-in-law just laughed because… she knows me.

A few minutes later I found the Instagram chair, climbed right into it, and my mother-in-law looked at me and asked, “What are you doing?”

“I’M HAVING FUN!” 🤣

Meanwhile, my sister-in-law was over there conducting what can only be described as a professional-level photo shoot.

Life’s too short not to sit in the ridiculous chair.

A little reminder that you don’t have to outgrow being playful just because you’re an adult. Sometimes the best thing you can do is embrace the moment, laugh at yourself, and let someone take the picture.

If you’re in Idaho Falls, definitely check this place out. They just opened in May, and the coffee was delicious, the vibe was fantastic, and whoever designed it deserves a standing ovation.

And I won’t spoil the surprise… but don’t skip visiting the bathrooms. The bathroom doors alone made me smile. 😂

Last night I went to a mixer where I got to shoot a .22 and a .45 (and did pretty darn well, if I do say so myself 😄.) I also got to donate a couple of my husband’s gun books to people who genuinely appreciated them.

At one point a friend looked at me and said, “I thought all liberals hated guns.”

I laughed. “Nope. You assumed wrong.”

Here’s the thing I told a crew the other night:
I’m a bleeding heart liberal who likes to shoot guns… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think we’ve become way too comfortable believing that people fit neatly into boxes (I’m guilty of this myself!)

For instance, I know Republicans who are for pro-choice rights. And as a liberal who grew up in Vermont, I’ve been around fi****ms all my life, respect responsible gun ownership, support Pride 🏳️‍🌈 Month but am also a stand for fiscal responsibility!

Most of us are a lot more nuanced than the headlines make us out to be.

And I think we all want the people we love to be safe, healthy, and have opportunities to live good lives. We may disagree on how to get there, but I think we’d all be better off if we spent more time being curious about each other than assuming we already know each other’s story (this is a reminder to myself.)

The more I seek the opposite pov, the more I learn we all have a lot more in common than the internet would like us to believe.

This one goes out to all my fellow non-sports people. 😂⚽️

For those of you who are into the World Cup, enjoy! I genuinely hope your team wins, your snacks are plentiful, and your weekends are everything you dreamed they’d be.

For those of you who are like me and just realized we’re only a few days into a FIVE-WEEK tournament… solidarity. 🤝

The good news? My house is about to be incredibly clean. The stack of books I’ve been procrastinating on is finally getting read. I’m pretty sure some art projects are going to emerge. Maybe I’ll even discover a new hobby or two.

While the soccer fans are tracking goals, standings, and brackets, I’ll be over here tracking chapters read, closets organized, and creative projects completed.

May the odds be ever in our favor, non-sports friends. We can do this. 😂
