The project adds an Olympic-sized competition pool, a youth splash pad and NinjaCross, an obstacle run suspended above the water. Upgrades also include a new parking lot along Walnut Avenue, covered bleachers and additional locker rooms.

The facility currently teaches water safety to more than 10,000 youth annually, and officials expect the expanded center to serve even more residents.

Pasta Viva is bringing fresh pasta and authentic Italian traditions to The Square in Irvine.

Co-owners Dessi Sarabosing and her brother Boris Mitrev make fresh pasta daily using imported Italian flour and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. Chefs finish signature dishes like "The Godfather" and "The Gladiator" inside giant cheese wheels, a traditional technique Italian monks created 900 years ago.

The menu also features chocolate pasta for dessert.
