New data shows a quiet but serious shift in where movies and TV shows are being made — and California is no longer the obvious winner.

In Q4 2025, several states saw major growth in film and TV production, while California continued to lose volume even after expanding tax incentives.

• Projects down 20% (to 71)
• Production spending down 22% (to $1.35B)
➡️ Still #1 overall, but clearly losing momentum.

New Jersey
• Projects +75% (to 21)
• Spending +12% (to $344M)
➡️ Aggressive tax credits + fast permitting = big pull.

Illinois
• Projects +70% (to 17)
• Spending +46% (to $240M)
➡️ One of the fastest-growing production hubs right now.

New York
• Projects +31% (to 63)
• Spending +31% (to $1.07B)
➡️ New York is now very close to California in total production scale.

Police said two people were shot dead on the busy Las Vegas Strip on Sunday night, in what they called an “isolated incident” that sent people running in terror.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement early Monday that the shots were fired around 10:40 p.m. local time (1:40 a.m. ET) in the 3600 block of Las Vegas Boulevard.
