A judge ordered that the police should return a massive quantity of 295 pounds of g***a to the owners/representatives of a Rastafarian organisation, Zion Yard, marking a major victory for Rastafarians who are defending their constitutional rights to freedom of religion and the use of of g***a for sacramental purposes.

The ruling stemmed from the dismissal of charges against Andy Blake who was charged by narcotics police on July 3, 2025 for possession, dealing, using premises to store and cultivation of 295 pounds of g***a.

Dear Republic Bank

This is in relation to your operations in Sangre Grande, specifically. Why, why, why? Every month end or long weekend, your ATM between Maharaj Supermarket and Eastern Pharmacy is always “temporarily down.” Okay, fair enough—I’ll walk to your main ATMs on the compound of your branch on the Eastern Main Road in Sangre Grande. But again, why, why, why? Out of the two machines there, only one is usually working.

Why is it that every time I have to deal with your esteemed establishment, I’m left at the mercy of the weather—standing in long lines in either the extreme heat or the rain?

Can you please look into this matter and consider servicing your ATMs at times when there isn’t unusually high demand? Surely, trends and patterns show when your customers need them most.

Thank you for your time and for addressing this ongoing issue.

Businessman and media personality Inshan Ishmael passes away after battle with cancer

Ishmael passed away earlier today, peacefully surrounded by his family.

One of his relatives confirmed the news via social media a few minutes ago, writing:
“Salaams and good morning. I regret to inform [you of] the passing of my dad, Inshan Ishmael. He passed peacefully this morning among his family. Funeral (janazah) arrangements will be posted, Inshallah. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (surely we belong to Allah and to Him is our return),” his son Zaakir Ishmael said.

Ishmael, who was well known for his outspoken advocacy on national issues and his role in promoting Islamic media in Trinidad and Tobago, revealed in May that he had been diagnosed with cancer. At the time, he spoke openly about his struggle, noting that his diagnosis was “a gift and test from God,” and expressing gratitude for the support of his wife, children, friends, neighbours, and medical team.

Despite his illness, Ishmael continued to engage with the public through his platform “Breaking Barriers” on IBN TV and social media, often speaking passionately about issues affecting citizens.

He was also a dear friend and former desk mate of Crime Watch host Ian Alleyne, who extended condolences to his family, friends, and fans.

Ishmael’s death marks the loss of a powerful voice in business, media, and activism in Trinidad and Tobago.
