- For anybody new to this page, my name is Michael and I have been chasing mother nature’s worst weather for over 20 years now…

- I fell in love with the destructive forces of nature at a very young age. After Hurricane Gloria made landfall over my childhood home on Long Island late in September of 1985 I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life! I had just turned 7 years old but I

can still remember that day like it was yesterday... I remember my whole family huddling in the basement together as the storm approached during the early morning hours. The winds picking up steadily throughout the day, the sounds of tree limbs breaking and debris crashing against the windows, and the warnings popping up on the bottom of the tv screen all day until the power finally went out all together…
- But the memory that sticks with me the most is after my father and I went upstairs during the height of the storm, looking out the bay windows of our living room and seeing the back yard completely covered with all types of debris from downed trees to sections of neighbors roofs!! Then, in the blink of an eye, COMPLETE CALM!!! It was like somebody flipped a switch and turned the storm off! My father and I went out in to the backyard and you could actually see the clouds just Disappear. It was like something right out of the movies! The sun came pouring through, the sky turned Bright Blue, and the air was Crystal Clear! We walked around checking out the damage for about a half hour or so admiring the stadium effect of the clouds inside the eye of the hurricane, and then all of a sudden we could see this dark wall of clouds approaching very quickly from the south…. We ran back in to the house and just as fast as the storm dissipated it had returned! We went back in to the basement with my mother, my brother, and two sisters where we waited out the rest of the storm. When we finally came back upstairs I was absolutely amazed by the amount of devastation we observed…
It is a memory that I will carry with me for the rest of my life…
So naturally 35 years later I travel all across this great country of ours in search of similar events…

- I just want to thank all of you for your continued support… It means more to me than you know.....

Witnessing the Total Solar Eclipse over Lake Memphremagog near the Vermont/Canada border, while the crowd played “Hello Darkness my old Friend” by Simon and Garfunkel was a surreal experience!!!

In 2017 I watched the last solar eclipse from the middle of a bridge that went over Lake Murray in South Carolina… I rode my bike out to the center of the bridge and just took it in all by myself. I really wasn’t expecting much but it ended up being one of the most epic things I have ever seen in my life!! It was an experience that made me emotional and left me wanting more…

There was no doubt that I was going to make seeing this years eclipse happen no matter what or where I had to drive to!! That said, I decided that instead of watching the eclipse this time by myself in a moment of solitude, that I wanted to take it in with a group of like minded enthusiasts…
It was pretty amazing to be around a bunch of like minded people all in the highest of spirits. People were singing and dancing, and showing one another past photos, sharing their telescopes for all to view… It was a reminder of how GOOD mankind can be when they come together!
When totality started the crowd played “The sound of silence” by Simon and Garfunkel and then the second totality ended “Here Comes the Sun” by the The Beatles… For the first couple of seconds I was a little annoyed, but then I looked around and saw the smiles on everybody’s faces and realized how well the music actually worked with it and man, what an experience!!!

If you haven’t witnessed a Total Solar Eclipse IN the path of totality before, you absolutely have to once in your life!
