Tune in for for a PRIDE special episode of the WRFI Community Radio Human Rights and Social Justice Program with guest Ian Lekus, hosted by Dr. Ute Ritz-Deutch - Friday June 5 from 9-10am

Dr. Ian Lekus (he/him) is an internationally recognized historian, writer, and human rights expert. Across grassroots movements, the nonprofit sector, and academia, Ian has advocated for and researched LGBTQI+ justice, peace, and human rights for more than 25 years.

Currently, he works on policy and communications strategies for the Council for Global Equality, a coalition of 40 organizations working to make U.S. foreign policies and programs fully LGBTQI+-affirming and inclusive. His work at the Council includes coordinating its international partnerships to fight the anti-rights/anti-gender movement and leading its work to support LGBTQI+ refugees. He is also the principal for the coaching and consulting firm, Delta Changemakers, LLC.

Over the last few months you may have started to hear a series of on-air announcements about local sustainability programs, green energy resources, and environmental solutions being encouraged and practiced across our broadcast region of the Southern Finger Lakes.

This announcement series is supported through a short-term Neighborhood Mini-Grant from Sustainable Finger Lakes.

Our 2026 partners in this project include:
- Tompkins County Climate Protection Initiative and their stewardship of the Ithaca 2030 District plan
- Community Science Institute and their Water Testing Assistance program
- BYOC Refillery - Offering bulk purchasing for household supplies across Tompkins County
- Seneca Lake Guardian, A Waterkeeper Affiliate - Focusing on advocacy efforts to preserve the environmental, economic, and public health of the Finger Lakes
- Cayuga Lake Watershed Network - On best environmental practices to minimize contamination and spread of invasive species in and around Cayuga Lake

We are grateful to Sustainable Finger Lakes for supporting our innovative proposal to educate our community on sustainable resources, and best environmental practices to the support the environmental health of our communities.
