***Connections Matter***

UniTek’s Executive VP of Business Development, James Ezell, spent some time in Savannah, GA for the Power and Communication Contractors Association Mid-Year Meeting.

The trip was a great mix of history, sightseeing, and catching up with industry friends. It was a welcome reminder that connections matter in both the fiber and power networks we build and in the partnerships that keep this industry moving forward.

James shared how much he enjoyed hearing from Anthony “AB” Bourke on the importance of briefing and debriefing in team communication. Bourke explained that the best organizations do more than work hard. They create consistent systems for giving and receiving honest feedback through a process he calls “The Debrief.” This practice of pausing to review and learn is what helps teams perform at their peak.

That idea rings true for all of us at UniTek. Progress means moving forward, but it also means taking the time to learn, improve, and connect along the way.

This week our CI Services crew strapped on the gear and tackled pole climbing + gaffing training with support from the UniTek Safety Team. From equipment checks to pole top rescues, the focus was all about building confidence, sharpening skills, and making sure everyone goes home safe.

At UniTek, safety is more than a checklist. Safety is a shared responsibility that shapes our culture and strengthens our teams.

Graham Thomas, Director of Safety and Training, puts it into words:

“Safety is a responsibility we all share. By making safety personal, we foster a culture where teammates look out for one another and where everyone goes home safe at the end of the day.”*

His message is a reminder that safety doesn’t just happen, and it starts with each of us. When we take it personally, we protect our people, projects, and future.
