The Mississippi Association of Broadcasters recently named Elayne Anthony, chairwoman of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Jackson State University, as the next president of the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters.

The Dept. of Journalism and Media Studies at Jackson State is welcoming a handful of new faculty. Students and alumni, please meet Dr. Emmanuel Nwachukwu aka Dr. Manny.

Emmanuel Nwachukwu (Ph.D., The University of Southern Mississippi) has taught public relations principles, advertising principles, social media, strategic media writing, introduction to integrated marketing communication, media and society, and mass communication theory and research at Winthrop University SC and Savannah State University GA before joining Jackson State University. His research interests include political public relations, crisis communication, social media in IMC and its impact in developing economies, and race and minorities in the media.

Professor Ashley F.G. Norwood (M.A., The University of Mississippi) is a Visiting Professor of Multimedia Journalism. She is an award-winning radio news reporter and former executive producer of the only statewide public affairs television show at Mississippi Public Broadcasting. Specializing in multimedia journalism and film, she is passionate about issues involving race, health, poverty and education. She teaches Intro to Mass Communication, Online Journalism, Broadcast Documentary and Script Writing.

Nathan A. Towery (Ph.D., The University of Alabama) is an Assistant Professor of Integrated Marketing Communication/Sports Media in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Jackson State University. His research interests include identification, the strategic communication of sport, and the motivations for sport fanship and fandom. He teaches Research Methods, Practicum, Media Literacy, as well as the department’s Capstone course.
