I am pleased to share an exciting opportunity for you to showcase your pride in our community by participating in the 2026 Mayor’s Civic Pride Awards.
This annual program recognizes individuals, churches, and organizations who take exceptional care of their properties—highlighting well-kept yards, attractive landscaping or hardscaping, and overall curb appeal.
What to Know:
Nominations Open: April 22, 2026
Nominations Close: May 31, 2026
Awards Presentation: August 13, 2026
Eligibility: Properties must be located within Jackson city limits
Award Categories Include:
Residential properties (five awards and five honorable mentions across city areas)
Commercial, Educational, and Religious Institutions (five awards and three honorable mentions)
Environmental Stewardship Award (recognizing efforts to protect and improve our environment)
Judging Criteria:
A team of Master Gardeners will evaluate properties based on their exterior appearance as viewed from the street. Scoring is based on three main areas (30 points each, 90 total):
Lawn & Hard Surfaces: Healthy, well-maintained grass; clean walkways and driveways; neatly edged and trimmed areas
Landscape & Flower Beds: Weed-free beds, pruned shrubs, seasonal color, and balanced plantings
Aesthetics: Overall visual appeal, creativity, and inviting presentation of the property
Whether you take pride in your own property or want to nominate a neighbor, local business, school, or church, I encourage you to participate. This is a great way to recognize the care and effort you and others put into keeping your property beautiful.
