Last night’s storm brought some serious weather through the Central District, and we know a lot of you woke up dealing with outages and disruption. 🌧⚡️

Here’s where things stand this morning:

Outages are most concentrated in:
• Central District neighborhoods
• Spots with older infrastructure that took the brunt of wind and lightning

Crews are on it:
Our utility teams and field crews have been working through the night — and they’re still out restoring service as quickly and safely as possible. Thanks to coordinated efforts with local responders, we’re prioritizing the hardest-hit areas and critical facilities.

What to do right now:
• Treat every downed line as live — stay at least 30 feet away and call it in if you see it.
• Unplug sensitive electronics to avoid surge damage when power returns.
• Check on neighbors who may need extra help — especially seniors and folks with medical equipment.

Gratitude where it’s due:
Huge appreciation to first responders, line workers, and emergency crews who haven’t stopped working. And to this community — your patience, neighbor-to-neighbor support, and resilience are what keeps us going.

Today in Vicksburg, we marked a major step forward for Mississippi’s energy future.

I joined Entergy Mississippi as the former Baxter Wilson Steam Electric Station was demolished, clearing the way for the new Vicksburg Advanced Power Station, set to come online in 2028. This transition reflects our state’s growing energy needs and the importance of modern, reliable infrastructure to support economic growth across Mississippi.

Progress means building for the future—and today was an important milestone.

🚨 Big news for Mississippi! 🚨

The Delta Regional Authority, in partnership with the state of Mississippi, is investing $5.7 million into 14 key projects through the States’ Economic Development Assistance Program. This funding will help boost public infrastructure, transportation, and job training — strengthening communities from the ground up.

🚨 Investing in the Delta 🚨

: The Delta Regional Authority recently announced investments totaling nearly $37 million through its States’ Economic Development Assistance Program, supporting critical infrastructure, workforce development, and economic growth in communities across the lower Mississippi River Delta and Alabama Black Belt regions.

This investment represents an increase of approximately 94.7% from last year, in which DRA awarded $19 million in SEDAP funding—demonstrating our commitment to ensuring our Delta communities thrive!

This weekend, I had the honor of speaking at the NAACP Vicksburg Branch’s Fourth Annual Freedom Fund Banquet, themed “The Fierce Urgency of Now.” Thank you to the Vicksburg Branch of the NAACP for the invitation and the opportunity to serve as the keynote speaker. It was a privilege to address the challenges we face today and to share a message rooted in hope, progress, and the urgency to move forward together.
