This week, I had the pleasure of attending a celebration of Mississippi Success event, an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow public officials and industry leaders.

I also appreciated hearing the Governor’s Tate Reeves vision for Mississippi and his plans to keep our state moving forward through collaboration with leaders across all sectors.

It was a great event, and I look forward to more opportunities like this to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and continue building a brighter future for Mississippi.

Yesterday, I spoke with members of the media about the importance of Mississippi’s leadership continuing to work together to drive economic development across our state. Projects like Entergy Mississippi’s Vicksburg Advanced Power Station bring high-paying jobs and lasting opportunities that improve lives and move Mississippi toward a stronger, more progressive future.

The Vicksburg Advanced Power Station Entergy Mississippi represents a $1.2 billion investment in reliable, affordable power for our families and businesses. This project replaces a 50-year-old facility with a modern, more efficient plant that will deliver cleaner energy and better performance for decades to come.

This is how we power progress, by working together to build a system that’s reliable, affordable, and ready for the next generation.”

Warren County,

Today we had the groundbreaking of the Vicksburg Advanced Power Station. As Commissioner, my priority is to make sure every energy decision we make is responsible, that it protects ratepayers, strengthens our grid, and supports long-term economic growth. By bringing these new, efficient generation sources online, we’re reducing future bill increases by about 16 percent over the next five years and ensuring that Mississippians continue to have dependable power at a fair price.

This investment also means real jobs and opportunity. More than 560 construction jobs will come to the Vicksburg area, along with new tax revenue and permanent positions to operate the plant. Projects like this strengthen local economies and create a foundation for new industries and higher-paying jobs across our state.
I want to thank Governor Tate Reeves, the Mississippi Legislature, Entergy Mississippi, and local leaders here in Warren County for working together to make this possible. These kinds of partnerships show how smart public policy and private investment can deliver real results for the people we serve.

Vicksburg has always been part of Mississippi’s energy story, and today that story continues, with new technology, new opportunity, and a stronger future for all Mississippians.
