Warren County,
Today we had the groundbreaking of the Vicksburg Advanced Power Station. As Commissioner, my priority is to make sure every energy decision we make is responsible, that it protects ratepayers, strengthens our grid, and supports long-term economic growth. By bringing these new, efficient generation sources online, we’re reducing future bill increases by about 16 percent over the next five years and ensuring that Mississippians continue to have dependable power at a fair price.
This investment also means real jobs and opportunity. More than 560 construction jobs will come to the Vicksburg area, along with new tax revenue and permanent positions to operate the plant. Projects like this strengthen local economies and create a foundation for new industries and higher-paying jobs across our state.
I want to thank Governor Tate Reeves, the Mississippi Legislature, Entergy Mississippi, and local leaders here in Warren County for working together to make this possible. These kinds of partnerships show how smart public policy and private investment can deliver real results for the people we serve.
Vicksburg has always been part of Mississippi’s energy story, and today that story continues, with new technology, new opportunity, and a stronger future for all Mississippians.
