What can we learn about each other as people this election season?
Created by StoryCorps, One Small Step brings strangers with different political beliefs together for a conversation—not to debate politics—but to get to know each other as people. Last year, 50 locals from different sides of the aisle met as strangers to talk about their lives and experiences and discovered that they had more in common than they thought.
This election season, KHOL is taking another step. We are pairing locals with candidates running for town and county offices to have an OSS Convo. Who are the people who want to represent you and what shaped their beliefs?
Now through the end of October, if you’re interested in talking with a candidate running for office, visit 891khol.org/one-small-step.

It's not often that we can pinpoint a day and say, "THIS is the time to support my favorite community radio station."
Today, however, is definitely one of those days.
KHOL is participating in WyoGives. An initiative of the Wyoming Nonprofit Network, WyoGives is a powerful statewide 24-hour online fundraising event designed to bring the state together as one community to raise funds and awareness for Wyoming nonprofits.
T minus 4 days left of our Summer Fund Drive!
Our drive runs through June 21st, and we need your support to keep KHOL running!
Our goal for this drive is to raise at least $15,000. Some of our equipment needs serious upgrades. We also really want to see our membership base grow! KHOL can’t exist without these donations and listener support. These gifts have a tremendous impact and keep our station running. We truly can’t do it without you!!
There’s a ton of great reasons to support KHOL, and we’ve got DJs through the rest of the week sharing why they care so much about this station and why you should pledge or donate.
For more info visit 891khol.org/donate. We’ll continue sharing more as the drive goes on, so stay tuned and stay donating at 891khol.org/donate!

Hey, how are you doing? As most of the country now knows, Teton Pass has closed due to the catastrophic failure of the roadway. This will affect so many members of our community. Here’s what KHOL is working on: Up-to-date “Teton Pass Impasse” coverage on the air, on Jackson Unpacked and on our social media outlets.Extending our live DJ music time slots so that we can be here for you — live and local. Opening phone and text lines so that we can better connect with this community. (More on this soon!) We want to know: What does this “catastrophic failure” mean for YOU? Do you live in Victor or Driggs and work in Jackson? Are you pregnant in Idaho and hoping to deliver in Jackson any day now? Are you a food service worker who will be braving the extended commute for the foreseeable future? Are you a START bus driver? Call in to our station line at (307) 201-7662 and leave a voicemail sharing how this has been affecting you and your community. We will soon start reporting these stories about our community members affected by this logistical nightmare. Whatever your situation, we hope you’re okay. We’re so glad you’re here — even if you’re a two-hour-that-used-to-be-a-forty-minute commute away. #localradio #communityradio #community #jackson #jacksonwy #tetonpass #wyoming #checkingin

Rosa Preciado has lived and worked in the Jackson area for 18 years.
Like much of the area’s Latino population, Preciado emigrated from Tlaxcala, a state east of Mexico City. She can’t return to see her family because of her documentation status.
Her parents, however, were able to come to Jackson thanks to a new program from the government in Tlaxcala, which helped five Mexican elders visit their families in Jackson starting in November.
The small mountain town of Jackson has 1,500 people from Tlaxcala — the second largest group in the US. That’s why, as early as February, the government from Tlaxcala will open a new immigrant resource center in Jackson that will offer more reunification programs, as well as help with passports and visas.
Tap the link in our bio to find out more about the initiative.
Four days a week, Roney de la Cruz drives a bus of mostly Latino students to a bilingual pre-school. His route represents how a wave of immigration, primarily from Mexico, has transformed the workforce, schools and broader community of Jackson Hole since the mid-1990s.
Listen to the final episode of #Facets from KHOL and Stio out now to hear stories of how Latino immigrants and first-generation residents are putting down roots and making Jackson home.

Facets: Pioneering Wyoming Women
The past few weeks have brought women’s agency and equality to the forefront of national discourse. In the fourth episode of "Facets: Voices of the Mountain Life," our new limited podcast series with Stio, we talk with pioneering Wyoming women who broke glass ceilings in their respective fields – women like Melissa Malm, the first woman on the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Ski Patrol, and Lynnette Grey Bull, who was the first Native American in Wyoming to run for national office.
#Facets is available now on Apple, Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts!
