Here’s a helpful tip for anybody interested in journalism!
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone in order to get new information. Go the extra mile to get quotes from anybody you can, even if they might seem intimidating. Dig deeper into plain research you can find off of the internet. Most importantly, if you believe in the cause, you can write the story.

Yesterday, Taher Inc., the food service for Jackson Public Schools, held a pig roast for the students of Jackson High at lunch. This lunch was held to show students where food comes from and what cooking is all about. Corporate chef for Taher Inc., Chris Martin, and the chef for the JPS school district, Stephen Trout, prepared this lunch with the help of the kitchen staff here at Jackson High. Chef Martin brought the recipe back from Germany on his recent visit there. German royalty uses this recipe for their own roasts. The recipe used on the hog has been passed down through generations and is around 400 years old.

Today, Arts and Entertainment Editor Sami Ulstad sat down with math teacher Paul Brunngraeber and asked him a few questions.

* If you were able to switch lives with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?

“I think it be really interesting to switch rolls with Martin Luther King to see the other side and see the struggle of being a minority.”

* If you had to create a new olympic event, what would it be and why?

“We used to do this on our farm in the winter. It’s called snow golf. It was super fun to do in the winter to break up the snowfall and cold. It’s golf in the winter.”

* Who would play you in a movie about your life and why?

“Everyone says Zack Galifianakis. Probably because of the beard and he’s funny.”

* What is one thing you can’t live without and why?

“My family because I’ve always been a big family oriented person. Everything I do is with them and for them.”

* What is something you wished you knew how to do or were very good at?

“Play an instrument. I never had band in my school and never had the opportunity, and everyone in my family is good at it and I’d like to expand my talents.”

Today, Editor in Chief Ena Humphries sat down with senior Anna Bair and asked her a few questions.

* If you could get rid of one U.S. state, which would you rid and why?

I’d have to say Wyoming because I feel like it doesn’t even exist.

* Who would win in a fight: Batman or Superman?

Superman just because he’s not even human.

* What’s your current favorite TV show?

I’d have to say Animal Kingdom because it’s a lot of heists and interesting crime. It’s well thought out and edgy.

* What cartoon character do you relate most to and why?

I’d go with Velma from Scooby Doo because I feel like her knowledge is accurate to me. I like mysteries too.
