B2Gold reported a fire-related incident in parts of the crushing circuit at its Goose mine on April 16.

On-site emergency teams responded immediately and successfully extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported, and operations continue as planned with no impact to the mill or power facility.

Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. has announced plans to consolidate its position in Finland’s Central Lapland Greenstone Belt through a series of strategic transactions.

The plan includes the acquisition of Rupert Resources and Aurion Resources, along with a 70% interest in the Fingold joint venture currently held by B2Gold. Combined with Aurion’s existing 30% stake, the transactions would result in Agnico Eagle gaining full ownership of the Fingold JV.

The move strengthens Agnico Eagle’s presence in one of Europe’s key gold exploration regions.

USA Rare Earth, Inc. has agreed to acquire Serra Verde Group, owner of the Pela Ema rare earth mine and processing plant in Goiás, Brazil, in a transaction valued at approximately $2.8 billion.

The deal includes $300 million in cash and 127 million shares of newly issued stock, strengthening USA Rare Earth’s position in the global supply of critical minerals such as dysprosium, terbium, and yttrium.

The transaction is expected to close in Q3 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions.

The U.S. Senate has passed a resolution to overturn a 20-year mining ban affecting more than 225,000 acres in Minnesota’s Superior National Forest.

The measure, approved by a 50-49 vote under the Congressional Review Act, reverses restrictions tied to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness watershed. The resolution previously cleared the House and now heads to President Trump, who is expected to sign it.

Court upholds permit for Rhyolite Ridge project in Nevada.

Ioneer Ltd. reported that a U.S. District Court upheld approval of the Rhyolite Ridge mine plan, affirming the federal review process.

The court found that the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service complied with key environmental regulations, including the Endangered Species Act, Federal Land Policy and Management Act, and National Environmental Policy Act.

Boliden halts production at Garpenberg mine following underground rockfall.
