April is Autism Acceptance/Awareness Month, with World Autism Awareness Day observed annually on April 2nd. It is dedicated to raising awareness, promoting inclusion, and fostering acceptance for individuals on the autism spectrum. The month features educational campaigns, community events, and fundraising, often highlighting the need for better support systems and research.
While I'm an individual with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), I think this is the best month for me to tell you all, my friends, followers, all about myself, which includes my hobbies, interests, likes/dislikes, hopes/dreams, wishes, special talents, and things I can and can't handle due to having ASD. I will share them in my reels and stories every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of this month.
Individuals with ASD like me mostly don't want and like revealing that they have autism because we are most likely to be victims of discrimination. It's a burden we/I cannot tolerate. Having autism doesn't mean we are childish, not human, abnormal, and weird, and it doesn't mean we have to stop being fun, creative, and silly. Individuals like me can still learn things even when we're out of school or in and not in college. Every human being is unique in our own ways.
As a creator of Blanding Cassatt and other projects, having ASD doesn't mean I'm not capable of having jobs, careers, and making money. But getting assistance to help out is totally necessary. It doesn't mean I/we should give up my/our dreams and future. I'm 28 and still have plenty of time to live and think about my future. I started Blanding Cassatt in 2015 and graduated high school in 2016 and thinking about the last decade makes me wish to start all over. My past still has some good times and moments.
