Those are the words of 12-year-old Donovan, who shared his perspective during a Pride Month conversation about family, friendship, and growing up with two moms. "It hurts me because they are teasing a family like mine, whether they mean to or not."

This Pride Month, we’ve circled back to a thoughtful piece from that reminds us that Pride is about so much more than rainbows and butterflies. It’s about belonging, acceptance, visibility, and creating spaces where every family feels seen and supported.

“That is what Pride Month is for — to commemorate the work that was done before us and recognize the work that still needs to be done. Teaching my kids about our community has given me an opportunity to discuss how important it is to treat everyone with love, kindness, and an open mind, and they have a front-row seat of what it looks like when that doesn’t happen.”

We’ve seen Hot Mom Summer. We’ve seen 90’s Summer. We’ve seen Slow Summer.

But here at Jacksonville Mom, we’re seriously considering a Toddler Summer. 😂

☀️ Round belly? Celebrated.
