We won! Jax State's Longleaf Studios won our 5th Emmy this weekend at the Southeast Emmy Awards in the program promotion category for our Defending Freedom documentary. We owe a big thank you to Alabama Public Television and Jacksonville State University for their continued support of our experiential learning film studio. SOUTHARTS FILMS ARE BACK! JSU invites all to the first documentary this Thursday, Sept. 19. It's a new season coming to Longleaf Studios.
All free to public, registration and pizza reception at 6:00, the film at 7:00 and then Q&A with actress/producer Hannah Youssef.
The film, "Marjoun & the Flying Headscarf" explores the results of Arab and Muslim Americans being increasingly detained for "guilty by association" with thematic links to African American struggle with civil rights. Heartfelt and fascinating.
