Sights and scenes from the ongoing installation of the LaVilla Heritage Trail. The 21-marker project is expected to completed in time for a grand opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on June 12, 2026 at Lift Ev'ry Voice & Sing Park. As a part of the event, the Jaxson's Ennis Davis will provide a free narrated walking tour of the project, providing project background details along with highlighting LaVilla's rich history.

With JTA seeking input on the Skyway’s future, here’s ours: PUBLIC TRANSIT. In other words, make it… the Skyway. No teardowns, no unproven tech or unrealistic “trails.” Rehabbed cars or a new people mover system will be far cheaper and can start immediately — and keep a viable, convenient and grade separated transit option for a downtown that’s finally seeing a long-promised explosion of growth.

As Jacksonville revisits the future of its Skyway system, the choices made today will shape how people move through Downtown for decades. The question isn’t just how to fix an aging system, it’s what kind of transit future the city truly wants.
