A neighborhood workshop to gather ideas on how LaVilla's rich history, culture, and heritage can be incorporated into the design of the University of Florida's Jacksonville campus will be held this Thursday at the Ritz Theatre. Residents, stakeholders, and community members are encouraged to attend.

With JTA seeking input on the Skyway’s future, here’s ours: PUBLIC TRANSIT. In other words, make it… the Skyway. No teardowns, no unproven tech or unrealistic “trails.” Rehabbed cars or a new people mover system will be far cheaper and can start immediately — and keep a viable, convenient and grade separated transit option for a downtown that’s finally seeing a long-promised explosion of growth.

As Jacksonville revisits the future of its Skyway system, the choices made today will shape how people move through Downtown for decades. The question isn’t just how to fix an aging system, it’s what kind of transit future the city truly wants.
