Can you say Penstem-MANIA?!?! PPRV has Penstemons for this plant sale & you’ll definitely want to pick up at least one! Penstemons typically bloom in the spring and pollinators ADORE them! They support bees, butterflies, caterpillars and hummingbirds. This set of beauties enjoys part shade and low water!
🐝Penstemon barrettiae aka Barrett’s Penstemon
Native to the Columbia Gorge, this perky little lady looks perfect wherever you need some structure. The rosy-to-lilac colored flowers bloom above dusty blue and succulent leaves. In nature it hangs from the most precarious cliffs so give it a rock garden home and enjoy.
🐝Penstemon anguineus - aka Siskiyou Penstemon
Native to our beloved neighboring mountains, this cute little plant is also one of the first to appear in openings left by logging operations. It has fluffy little “hairs” on the lower petals and the colors of the flower run from sky blue to purple.
🐝Penstemon procerus aka Littleflower Penstemon
If you’re new to the delights of penstemons, this is the perfect “starter”. The flower clusters are a show-stopper in shades of deep blue to purple with a white throat. It is also fairly petite so feel free to put gobs of it in a sunny spot with meadow-like moisture conditions.
