42-year-old Gregg Gafford, a former music teacher at multiple Duval County schools, has been arrested on a warrant for lewd and lascivious molestation.

Your JSO Special Assault Unit detectives arrested Gafford in connection with two separate s*x crimes cases. He was working at St. Matthew’s Catholic School on the Westside in 2023 when a child reported that he groped them during an after-school club.

Detectives also discovered that another student had accused Gafford of s*xual abuse back in 2011, while he was teaching at Normandy Village Elementary. The former student, now an adult, reported that case to authorities in 2024.

On July 11, District 5 Task Force Officers located and arrested the suspect on two outstanding warrants.
Children are our most precious resource, and protecting them is our top priority. Anyone who violates their safety will face the full weight of the law.

Detectives are investigating whether Gafford may have committed additional offenses against other students. If you have any information, please contact us at 904.630.0500 or email [email protected].

In Florida, anyone who knows or reasonably suspects that a child or vulnerable adult has been abused, neglected, or exploited is legally required to report it to the Florida Abuse Hotline. This requirement applies to everyone, including mandated reporters such as teachers, doctors, and social workers. The hotline number is 1.800.962.2873.
