🗣️ This is a hill I’m willing to die on.

Who your kids surround themselves with matters. A LOT.

I’m not saying every friend has to come from a family that looks exactly like ours, believes exactly like ours, or parents exactly like we do. But when another child’s behavior, boundaries, or values consistently go against what we’re trying to teach in our home, I’m not going to ignore that just because “they’re friends.”

One thing I tell my kids is that making good friend choices directly affects how much freedom you have.

When you choose friends who have similar morals, respect boundaries, make good decisions, and have parents we can trust, it’s much easier for us to say yes. Yes to hanging out. Yes to going places without us. Yes to more independence.

But if the people you choose to spend your time with are constantly getting into trouble, hiding things from their parents, pushing boundaries, or making choices we don’t agree with, then naturally there are going to be more limits on where you can go and what you can do with them.

That isn’t punishment. That’s parenting.

Our job isn’t to make sure our kids are included in everything. Our job is to help guide them while they’re learning who they are, what they stand for, and what kind of people they want influencing their lives.

Because whether we like it or not, the people we spend the most time with influence us, and I’m not afraid to protect the values we’re working hard to build at home.

Another Sideline Supper is here! 🏈These Monte Cristo sliders can be made ahead, popped in the oven, and packed up for the fields. Sweet, savory, melty perfection. 🤤

Follow along for more easy sports-night meals, because eating dinner at 4:00 or 10:00 gets old, and so do concession stand nachos every week. 😂

Church starts at the same time every Sunday, which apparently continues to catch my family completely off guard. I'm convinced we could start getting ready for church on Saturday night and somehow still be yelling "GET IN THE CAR!" five minutes after we were supposed to leave.😅
Please tell me Sunday mornings are chaos at somebody else's house too.⛪️🫠

Leftover smoked pulled pork, but make it fancy. 😋 Strawberry preserves, melty Brie, and that smoky pork make a combo I didn’t know I needed. Definitely adding this one to the leftover rotation! Full recipe at the end! Leave a comment if you'd like me to send you the recipe card for saving.
