Artist friends: I almost fell for a PayPal scam today and wanted to share a reminder.

A buyer contacted me through Facebook about one of my paintings. After I sent a PayPal invoice, they asked for my email address. Later I received an email claiming a payment was on hold and that I needed to click a link to upgrade or increase my account limit.

I logged directly into PayPal and discovered there was no payment at all. The email was fake.

A good rule: If the money is not showing inside your PayPal account, you have not been paid. Don't rely on screenshots or email notifications alone.

Stay safe out there and always verify payments directly through PayPal before shipping artwork.
