The JEA Compensation Committee approved a recommendation for a 3 year contract with 1 year terms with current CEO Vickie Cavey. This deal will give Cavey a $140,000 pay raise from $560,000 to $700,000 per year. This deal also includes 3% annual increases, a $2,000 monthly business allowance, and $850 vehicle allowance.

JEA also presented to their finance committee a 10% gradual utility increase bringing the combined utility bill for residential customers using a 100 kilowatt hour and ⅝” water meter from $205 in October of 2024, to a purposed $209 starting April 1st, 2025, to $221 in 2026.

The board will vote on Cavey’s new contract along with a rate hearing on Tuesday February 25.

Duval! If you’re a business owner who hasn’t submitted the BOI filling with FINCEN, you need to submit one by the 31st of December if your business was registered before January 1st 2025! As early voting continues (OCT 21st - NOV 3rd) and Election Day draws closer (NOV 5th), voting matters such as the 47th president, legalization of ma*****na through Amendment 3, and abortion rights through Amendment 4 are some of the most controversial items on our ballot this election. If you're anything like me, you're in line, ready to lend your voice to these three issues but have no clue about the other positions and amendments on the ballot.
