Delores Dennison never got to attend her senior prom.
Growing up in West Virginia, her family simply could not afford it, and she believed that moment had passed her by forever.
More than 70 years later, her great-grandson Austin decided to change that.
He invited his 89-year-old great-grandmother to be his prom date at Parkway High School in Ohio.
Delores had survived both a heart attack and a stroke, and warned him that she was not steady on her feet anymore. But she still said yes.
They went to dinner, took photos and walked into the prom together, where the other students gave them a standing ovation.
Then came the moment Delores would never forget.
She and Austin slow danced to a Frank Sinatra song that her late husband used to sing to her.
She had waited more than seven decades for her first prom.
And when it finally came, she got to share it with someone who made sure she never felt like she had missed out at all.
