We’re at the point that dogs cannot be saved. Dogs will be shot or euthanized because we don’t have space for them. Not by us but because we cant intake them. That’s the reality. I wish I could sugar coat it for you but that’s the truth. It’s not in my nature to say no but there truly is no where for another dog to go. Right now there is a dog in imminent danger and I cannot save it. Because I don’t have a foster. And I have 4 more dogs coming to the rescue in the next couple weeks and I have exactly 0 kennels open. I’m not sure what to do at this point. I’m exhausted and I’m feeling defeated. 😞

There are many resources for low cost spay and neuter in Arkansas. There is no excuse not to get it done. PLEASE share this list, use it, and encourage everyone to be accountable. There aren't enough homes for them all. There aren't enough homes for a tenth of them. Do it. Make the appointment, and KEEP the appointment! Rescues and shelters are full!!

As we say goodbye to all our loyal supporters and donors, I want to say a special thank you to Jewelry Exchange and Repair who have been by our side since we started many years ago and with the Jacksonville Animal Shelter before that. Mark and Kathy have collected money for us through a collection jar at their business and have generously added their own money every single month without fail. I am proud to call them my friends and have known them for many, many years, long before JFOTA. I can personally vouch for their integrity, and they have some of the most unique and beautiful jewelry I have seen. I know they will continue to help the animals in our community. If you are looking for a unique gift, please drop by and see them. Mother’s Day is almost here!

We want to thank everyone who has supported us over the years. We have made a huge difference in the lives of homeless animals with your help for the past eleven years. We have sponsored thousands of adoptions and paid for thousands of spays and neuters at the Jacksonville Animal Shelter. Two years ago, our focus changed and our mission was to help other rescue groups financially and to pay for spay/neuter for families who weren’t able to pay the vet fees.

We know we have made a difference and would love to continue, but we have decided to dissolve Jacksonville Friends of the Animals. The paperwork has been filed and we are in the process of notifying our loyal donors. It will take a few months so any checks that come in will still be tax deductible, but all online donation platforms will be turned off this weekend.

Remaining funds will be used to sponsor a free spay/neuter event (more info on that to come) and shared with other local rescues in our area.

Thank you all again for following, donating, sharing, and caring. We couldn’t have done this without you ❤️

Sweet Dexter needs some help. He was found as a stray and unfortunately he has heartworms. He is currently in foster care and we need money for his heartworm treatment before he can be adopted. As you know, the treatment is expensive, usually around $600. Please help if you can. Let’s get him well.

Sweet but shy boy found near Fair Oaks subdivision and may be heard towards Harris Road. Anyone recognize him?
