Good morning dear listeners,
I bring a bit of bad news this morning. After several months of deliberation, I have decided to cancel Elm City Radio's broadcasts on the Live365 (Official) platform and cease broadcast of the Internet radio station side of things for Elm City Radio.
With tightening belts and bills that are attached to the broadcasting side, paying for the service has become untenable. We simply do not have the advertising dollars to support the platform to stay in operation. The broadcast of the station will cease at the end of the billing cycle on January 21. With a lack of listeners (we were averaging 10-15 listeners a day in a good month) and a lack of sponsors, moving forward was just unmanageable.
Elm City Radio as an entity, though, is not going away. Our podcasting side has been extremely successful and has some decent engagement from listeners at large. Elm City Radio will shift its focus towards those two podcast platforms in 2026. The Artists Spotlight and the Crime Stoppers podcasts will continue in full force. We will have a new Morgan, Scott & Cass Crime Stoppers coming up in just a few days so stay tuned for the announcement. I am currently working on some national and local artists to feature in the coming months on the Artists Spotlight.
Not to mention, our new website is up and running in full force, too. There is lots of great music content, especially for locals in the West Central Illinois area to go and enjoy.
We appreciate all of the prior support we had bringing you all of the latest in new blues, soul, roots rock, alternative rock and pop as well as some of your classic favorites. In the golden age of streaming, it is definitely a hard sell to people to invest time into what may be a song they don't like next on the radio - Internet or otherwise. I appreciate those who took the time to invest their hours and bet on something different during our 1 year and 4 months on the air. Maybe it will return. For now, finances and time have dictated that we shift our efforts to things that keep us solvent and operating in ways that are manageable.
Again, thank you for those that took the time to listen. Thank you to those who are willing to adjust with us as we fine tune and move forward.
Musically yours,
Ben Cox, Owner & Operator
