Three Florida nursing schools sold more than 7,600 fake diplomas and transcripts in a scheme that allowed aspiring nurses to bypass the required training to become licensed nurses, federal prosecutors have said.

More than 25 people have been charged in Operation Nightingale.

“What is disturbing about this investigation is that there are over 7,600 people around the country with fraudulent nursing credentials who are potentially in critical health care roles treating patients," said Chad Yarbrough, special agent in charge of the FBI's Miami office.

The pushback against LGBTQ rights in education could hit a wall in the form of the Biden administration, which is proposing sweeping changes to Title IX, a federal statute that protects against discrimination based on gender and s*x.

Sexist, racist and classist: Why the feds are getting involved in school dress codes

Nearly all – about 93% – of the nation's schools have some kind of dress code policy, with about half of all schools enforcing a strict dress code, and about one in five schools requiring uniforms.

Although often created in the name of safety, the dress codes have come under fire.

The GAO's analysis shows school uniform policies make some students feel unsafe and by nature discriminate against students of certain cultures and religions. And discipline in response to violations takes learning time away from kids.

What do you think?

An oversight office is urging the Education Department to clue in schools on how dress codes evoke safety and discrimination concerns.
