GOOD NEWS FOR LOCAL MUSIC!!!
JME (Jacksonville Music Experience) has dedicated Saturday nights at 8pm to local music with Hurley Winkler at the helm.
🎉🎶🎉🎶🎉🎶
Seven years ago (!!!?) Hurley interviewed me and a handful of other Jacksonville Zine makers (one of my favs - ) for Folio Weekly.

That was at the beginning of my volunteer work with the Jacksonville Public Library to bring attention to the Zine catalog, host free Zine workshops, co-founded Duval Comic and Zine Fest ().

Seeing passions for local artists given the weight it truly deserves, and positions given to those who *do the work* as they continue highlighting local talent IS A WIN FOR THE WHOLE ARTISTIC COMMUNITY! A win for Jacksonville culture!

The last Monday evening of every month is a casual Zine Hang hosted by yours truly.

My Zine library stays in my trunk these days, but now I’ve got a specific location and time for people to find me.

I love spending quality time with local zines last night.

2-4. always has me laughing out loud. He’s recently released a series of “mini zines”
One of my favorites was when he talks directly to Neil Diamond:
“Neil.

Neil, please.”

5-7 James Greene’s ongoing series of Larry Loathman Snake Master. Big fan of the Rambo face and the irritated Moses in this issue.

8. Doug Knight
Prolific local Zine maker who hand makes every issue and places them randomly around Jax and surrounding areas. He makes zines in the purest form and I consider a copy of his work a jewel in the crown.

9. Wasp Nest by .velouria
Multi-talented local voice. This artist is always trying new things with Zine making, weaving, video manipulation. Follow her account to see what else blooms from her!

Last Mondays, River City Ra**ch will be posted up for a two hour block Riverside Liquors.

RSL is a long favorite local spot for tapas, daily specials, craft cocktails and an in-house store that offers free corkage from any wine purchased there.

They’ve offered us a generous space in a casual atmosphere to talk, read and make zines.
I’ll have a mini zine library for flipping through, materials on hand for demonstrations and best practices or we can just talk about zines, self publishing or really anything that comes up.

For this Saturday, I’ll be at the registration booth to help great all the vendors 😻 so our Patron Saint of Ra**ch *Cat* will be behind the table to represent Ra**ch during most of the festival. She’s my brains when I’ve run out and so grateful to have her supporting. She’ll tell you what the zine is all about!
