Jon thought the movie deserved its own outlaw anthem, wrote "Blaze of Glory" on a diner napkin, and brought in Jeff Beck to lay down that searing slide guitar. It goes all the way to No. 1 on this day in classic rock history, September 8th 1990!

September 1st turned out to be a massive day for rock records across three very different eras:

Styx delivered some of their heaviest riffing on Pieces of Eight, Hall & Oates perfected their blend of rock and soul with Private Eyes, and Mötley Crüe finally went clean to create the best-sounding metal album of the decade in Dr. Feelgood! That is a ridiculous amount of great songwriting landing on the exact same calendar date.
