On this day, December 22nd 1987, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx was declared clinically dead for two minutes following a he**in overdose. He was revived by paramedics with two shots of adrenaline to the heart. Legend has it when he woke up in the hospital he ripped his IVs out, and hitchhiked home in just his leather pants.

This near-death experience became rock legend and later inspired the band's massive hit "Kickstart My Heart."
