It was a real honor to be featured in Vintage King’s “30 Years/30 Studios” piece. It felt like a leap of faith to open a recording studio in 2011, in a music industry that seemed to be devouring itself. 13 years in, I still love this life more than I could have imagined. Music is a window into our shared humanity and I get a front row seat every day. Onward!

Combo-ized my Princeton Reverb head into a 1x12, and got it with Sea Foam tolex because of course. Jensen C12 speaker. I’ll still use it with the Dr.Z 1x12 (on the right, under the AC15) but the convenience of a combo is definitely worth it.

RCA 74B and Neumann TLM 170 R. Two great (and VERY different) options for vocals. Maximum and minimum coloration.

RIP Barry Ober. Barry built the original Dimension Sound Studios in 1974. We never met in person (he lived in NC and KY) but we spoke on the phone a few times. He told me about how they used to make records at Dimension. The Ampex preamps I posted about earlier today were originally his, and I’m glad they’ll keep making great music in this amazing and storied studio.
