A woman in Middletown, Ohio, is turning grief into comfort by sewing keepsake teddy bears from the clothes of loved ones who’ve passed.

A few years back, after losing her grandmother, she made memorial bears for family members. Soon after another death in her circle, she created a handful more — and word spread. What began as a personal project has blossomed into over 200 handmade “memory bears,” helping grieving families hold on to tangible comfort.

Each bear is stitched from clothing and fabric that once belonged to the departed, and even stuffed with leftover scraps — a way to preserve not just memories, but even a sense of presence: some people say the bears retain the clothing’s original scent, offering a little extra solace.

Requests have surged this season — she’s already received more than 30 orders for the holidays. For many, these bears are more than plush toys: they’re a soft, hug-ready link to someone they miss.

In the midst of holiday lights and family dinners, she hopes these bears help others find a little peace — and a comforting way to remember.

As we gather for another Thanksgiving, my heart is filled with gratitude. For more than 45 years, I’ve had the privilege of sharing music, stories, and moments with all of you — and every day, I’m thankful for this incredible journey.
To my loyal listeners who tune in, call in, and keep the spirit of radio alive… you are the reason this career has been such a joy. Your support, your friendship, and your presence on the other side of the microphone mean more than words can say.
