On June 4, 2026, at 6:06pm, Deputies of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police responded to Shumla Rd. in the Town of Pomfret for a reported motor vehicle accident with injury. As a result of the accident, one operator was transported by Cassadaga Fire/EMS to Brook's Memorial Hospital and the other was flown by STAT Medivac to UPMC Hamot for non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation into narcotics activity in the City of Jamestown led to the ex*****on of two search warrants in the morning of June 4th with four persons arrested for narcotics possession. Narcotics Investigators from Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office and City of Jamestown Police Department executed the search warrants at 220 Lincoln St. Apt. 3 and at 109 Thayer St. Apt. 2 in the City of Jamestown. As a result of the searches Investigators seized over 29 grams of fentanyl, 1.2 grams of methamphetamine, a quantity of co***ne, scales and packaging material for the sale and distribution of narcotics and $1054.00. From the search at 220 Lincoln St.

Fernando Velazquez-Nazario and Destinee French were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd. Lovella Kellom was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th. From the search at 109 Thayer St. Phillip Mckeown was charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd. Kellom was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. Velazquez-Nazario, French and Mckeown were transported to Jamestown Police Department to be arraigned in City Court. The investigations for both locations are still on going with the possibility of additional arrests.

Authorities continue to ask members of the community to call and report suspicious or narcotics related activity within their neighborhoods. On May 27, 2026, at 2:00pm, Officers of the Town of Ellicott Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for observed traffic infractions. Through investigation, Officers determined that 35-year-old Steven Seavy was operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs.

Seavy was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a scale. Seavy was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree and other vehicle and traffic violations.

On June 2, 2026. Officers of the Town of Ellicott Police Department responded to reports a suspicious situation. Through investigation, Officers discovered that 28-year-old Bobbiejo Ostrom had allegedly abandoned her special needs child for months without a set date or time to retrieve the child.

The adult that she had left the child with was not specially trained to take care of a special needs child nor was the adult a parent or guardian of the child. Ostrom was transported to Chautauqua County Jail and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

On June 3, 2026, around 3:30am, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an address in Forestville for reportS of a crime in progress. Upon arrival, Deputies located a vehicle of interest and identified the occupants as a juvenile and an adult male – later identified as Vernal F. Carpenter, 44, of Dunkirk, NY. After a preliminary investigation, the vehicle and all of the property inside was seized and Carpenter was detained on scene and later transported to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning.

Given the nature of the offense, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Investigators were called to assist. Further investigation into the incident determined that Carpenter and the juvenile subject allegedly engaged in several instances of sexual contact, both on today’s date – and additional dates.

Further investigation was conducted, Carpenter was interviewed, and at 11:45am Carpenter was charged with 4 counts of R**e in the 2nd Degree and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail where he will await centralized arraignment. Carpenter will answer for his charges in the Chautauqua County Supreme Court.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the children of our community and holding accountable those who seek to exploit, abuse, or prey upon them. The safety and well-being of our youth will continue to be a top priority, and we work diligently alongside our law enforcement partners, prosecutors, schools, and community organizations to investigate these crimes, support victims, and ensure offenders are brought to justice.

On June 1st, 2026, at 4:57PM, Deputies with the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office performed a traffic stop on a vehicle for an observed traffic violation on Parker Rd in the Town of Chautauqua. The vehicle operator was identified as 36-year-old James D. Mawhir of Mayville, NY. Through investigation it was found that Mawhir was operating with a revoked NYS driver's license. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed that Mawhir was in possession of 19.4g of Methamphetamine, 4g of Fentanyl, a quantity of pills found to be controlled substances, and other drug paraphernalia including scales, packaging material, and 679.50 US dollars. Mawhir was taken into custody and transported to CCSO where he was then charged with the traffic offenses, misdemeanor Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd, 3 counts of misdemeanor CPCS 7th degree, 2 counts felony CPCS 4th degree, and 2 counts felony CPCS 3rd degree. Mawhir was booked into the Chautauqua County Jail and arranged where he was remanded with bail set.

On June 1, 2026, around 11:21pm, Officers from the Jamestown Police Department's 3rd Platoon responded to an address on the Eastside of the city for reports of a person with a weapon as well as one person that had been stabbed. Through investigation, Officers determined that 26-year-old Brionna S. Bush went to the victim's house, forced her way inside, engaging in a physical altercation.

As a result of the altercation, both the victim and Brionna sustained non-life-threatening injuries from a knife. Brionna was treated for her injuries and transported to the Jamestown City Jail where she was charged with 2 counts of Burglary in the 1st Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree.

An investigation into narcotics activity in the City of Jamestown led to Investigators executing a search warrant at 33 Ellicott St. Narcotics Investigators from the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office and the Jamestown Police Department executed the search warrant at 3:25 pm on Friday May 29th. As entry was gained, investigators located Anthony L. Jordan. As a result of the search of the residence Investigators seized 81.9g of Methamphetamine, 7.1g of Fentanyl, $1,410.00 in cash and packaging material used for the sale and distribution of narcotics.

Jordan was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree. Jordan was transported to Jamestown Police Department to be arraigned in the City of Jamestown Court.

On May 30, 2026, around 6:06pm, Deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Town of Arkwright. Michael R. Jamison, 58 of Irvine, NY failed to comply and led Deputies on a vehicle pursuit from the Town of Arkwright into the Town of Hanover. Jamison eventually stopped his vehicle at an address on Allegany Road in the Town of Hanover. Jamison and a female passenger were taken into custody after a brief struggle. Jamison was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail where he was arraigned at CAP for Driving While Intoxicated, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in the 3rd Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, as well as several vehicle and traffic citations.
