🐾 THANKSGIVING PET SAFETY TIPS 🦃

Thanksgiving is a special holiday that brings together family, friends — and of course, our pets! But while we enjoy the festivities, the holiday can also bring unexpected hazards for our four-legged family members.

Holiday foods should be kept out of reach of pets, and those traveling for the holiday should ensure their animals are safely transported or have proper care at home.

Did you know 56% of pet owners admit to sharing Thanksgiving scraps with their pets? While some lean meats and fresh veggies can be healthy additions, many holiday foods contain hidden dangers that can lead to serious illness.

Constable Mark Herman’s Office is sharing these important reminders to help our pet owners keep their animals safe and healthy this holiday season:

🍽️ YES & NO THANKSGIVING FOODS FOR PETS

Before giving your dog or cat a holiday treat, take time to review what’s safe and what’s dangerous for them to eat. Pets can enjoy their own Thanksgiving feast — just make sure it’s made from pet-safe foods.

⚠️ Prevent Overindulgence

Even safe foods should be given sparingly. Extra treats should make up no more than 10% of your pet’s total diet. Overfeeding can contribute to obesity, which leads to long-term health issues.

Let’s celebrate Thanksgiving responsibly and keep our furry friends safe, comfortable, and happy all weekend long! 🐶🐱💛
