Detectives with the Jasper Police Department have recovered property recently reported stolen from Rural King and arrested a suspect in connection with the theft.

During the investigation, detectives worked closely with Rural King to obtain and review video evidence. Through investigative efforts, detectives developed leads that ultimately led them to a residence in the Townley area.

Upon arrival, detectives located the stolen property and made contact with the suspect, taking him into custody without incident.

Robert Lucas Pitts (DOB: 02/27/1982) was arrested on an outstanding Failure to Appear warrant and additionally was charged with Theft of Property in the Third Degree.

Chief J.C. Poe praised the work of the department's detectives, noting that strong partnerships with local businesses and thorough investigative work continue to produce results.

“Criminals should understand that they cannot avoid accountability simply by crossing a city limit sign,” Chief Poe said. “Our detectives will follow the evidence wherever it leads to recover stolen property and bring offenders to justice. If you commit a crime in Jasper, you should expect us to come looking for you.”

As always, all suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
