The Chamber of Commerce of Walker County hosted its annual breakfast meeting today at the Jasper Civic Center, with special guest speaker Dr. Anthony J. Leigh, president of Huntingdon College in Montgomery. Maria Ross Campsey was presented a past president's award, and Matthew Franklin was named the 2025 Volunteer of the Year.

State Farm has donated $10,000 to the Town Creek Volunteer Fire Department in Empire. Members of the fire department and county commissioners gathered Tuesday afternoon as representatives with State Farm ceremoniously presented a check to the fire department. Fire Chief Chris Owens said the funding will be used to purchase rescue equipment to better serve the community. More will be shared in an upcoming edition of the Eagle. Missing teen found safe

A missing 15-year-old Jasper girl has been found safe, Jasper Police Chief J.C. Poe said Tuesday afternoon.
Kaylee Traywick, who was last seen Sept. 5 at 4:20 a.m., was found and is currently safe and unharmed, Poe said.
Police had been searching for Traywick since she was last seen on U.S. Highway 78 in Jasper. She was believed to be driving a 2015 Ford Edge.

A guide to this year's Foothills Festival was released today. The guide is free and will be available inside subscriber copies of the newspaper and at the Daily Mountain Eagle office. There will also be copies at the Foothills Festival, set for this Friday and Saturday in downtown Jasper. The guide tells more about the festival acts and provides information about parking. Baptist Health Walker Hospital announced Monday the hiring of Jeremy Gallman as hospital president.

Gallman joins Baptist Health Walker Hospital after serving as chief operating officer at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga., since 2023.

“Baptist Health Walker Hospital is an outstanding facility, and I am honored to be given the chance to lead the team members who make it the special place it is,” Gallman said. “I am incredibly grateful to Baptist Health for this opportunity and am so excited to get started here in Jasper.”
