Jay and Grove are both in basketball tournaments this week 🏀

Grove is in the “Big Dawg Shoot-out”, hosted at Vinita. It’s a 3 day tournament from December 11-13 this week. The Lady Ridgerunners first round game is Thursday at 4:00pm vs Claremore, and then the Ridgerunners are set to play right after at 5:30pm vs Salina!

Jay is playing in the McDonald County Tournament from December 10-13 this week. The Lady Bulldogs first game of the tournament is set to play today at 3:30pm vs Prairie Grove. The boys team will play this evening at 8:00pm vs McDonald County!

Good luck to both the Bulldogs and Ridgerunners this week in tournament play and if you got nothing to do, head out to one of these tournaments and support your local school!

Wrestling season is in full swing and it started with the annual Border Wars hosted by Jay. This is an all-girls wrestling tournament held over two days, Dec. 5th-6th. There were 23 teams from Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas. Schools as far west as Mcloud and as far east as Fayetteville, and as far south as McAlester were in attendance.

There were 2 Delaware County teams competing and several girls placed, helping their team in overall placing.

Grove had 2 girls place for their team. Jadyn Majors, a sophomore, placed 3rd in the 110lb division. Harper Mathis, junior, placed 3rd in the 155lb division. Grove placed 20th overall with 93 points.
Jay finished 8th overall in this tournament with 232 points. Head coach David Gilstrap is liking how his team performed this past weekend. He stated that some of the schools who finished slightly ahead of them are defending state champions or finished top 3 in the state. Jay had 3 girls who placed; freshman Harper Dry placed 6th at 120lbs, freshman Kyleagh Lackey placed 6th at 125lbs, and sophomore Khloe Murray placed 4th at 145lbs.

Tonight is the semifinal round in Class 2A-ll and we have a good one! Playing all the way out in Ponca City to advance the state championship is the Adair Warriors vs the Stroud Tigers!

Adair defeated Holdenville 2 weeks ago by a score of 20-14. Stroud defeated Wyandotte 49-14.

It’s a shame this rivalry is ending because I caught the 2nd half of the boys game at Jay and that Bulldog Arena was LOUD!
This game was back and forth and as it should be… it’s a RIVALRY!
All those stats on paper and height/weight difference make no difference in a RIVALRY!

Jay took a 1 point lead with 10 seconds left on a Zayne Henderson free throw and the home side at the Bulldog Arena was ROCKIN’!
8 seconds later, Briggs Fink hit the baseline floater as time expired, giving the Ridgerunners the win!
The away side erupted!

How can you not love this rivalry?

Shocking news coming from Delaware County 👀
Jay and Grove will no longer play each other IN ANY SPORT after this year.

A rivalry dated back deep in history is now history itself.

This was the 4th down play to seal the victory for the Adair Warriors!

Holdenville drove the field to set themselves up in Warrior territory. On 4th and 6 with 1:46 left in the game. Holdenville attempted a pass play and Adair senior, Ryan Wilson, flew in for the initial tackle and the Holdenville receiver jumped over Wilson and then sophomore Kale Rampey came in for the finish!

Adair ran out the clock and got the 20-14 victory! Their win sets them up for a semi-final match up vs Stroud!

Tonight, the FNL crew will be in Adair for the 2nd round of the playoffs! The Adair Warriors host the Holdenville Wolver...

The Adair Warriors host the Holdenville Wolverines! Winner advances to the semi-finals.
