Redo of a comic book cover I created way back in 1995 when I was living in NYC. It’s number 2 of 2 I created for an independent publisher. No pay, just… …glory (I mean it was published).

Guess who the guy with the gun was modeled after?

So here’s the cover of issue No. 2 beside the cover of issue No. 1. For some reason I didn’t sign either illustration for publication. Or later. Curious.

Noticed I had a post up of the Hulk in color, which is framed and hanging on my wall. However, I meant to post it alongside the pencil version of the same illustration. Both are hanging side by side in my apartment. A sort of before and after.

Im thinking about writing a book about my mother. Maybe a graphic novel. There’s a lot of things I suspect in her history, and background before “me”. Anyway, anyone who knew my mother, Darcie Jean Rowe Jarvis born June 8, 1942 in Claiborne County, tazewel, TN back in the day especially before 1962, specifically before April 5, 1962. I’d love to talk to you. Maybe you can help me fill In the blanks that parents always seem to leave lying around. You can reach me here. 😀@

Digitally inking a cover sketch I did back in 1995 while I lived in New York City. I know I did an inked version back then however that piece and the printed result has been lost. But this is good way to practice digital using my Apple pen, iPad and Adobe Fresco. The other image is the inked version of the 1st issue of same book.

Well my ink jet printer died today, which means my scanner also bit the dust. That means producing my artwork becomes a little harder. I have been drawing sketches old school style on Bristol board to map out my illustrations and then scanning them into Adobe Fresco to create my final digital drawings. I used Photoshop to add any special effects I wanted. That made printing out any requests or commissions on photo paper.

It’s a fast and simple process that produces high end images. I’ll have to go back to the “take a photo” of my sketches and then importing them. It takes longer because I have to fix bad lighting and bad angles.

Painful.

Unfortunately a new printer is out of reach.

Oh, well, att least I’m still able to use my right arm and draw. 😎
