Proud Dad moment.

This hug wasn't because he won. It was because he finished.

At the JC Triathlon - The Great Escape, he was having a great race when he crashed hard on the bike. Most 10-year-olds would have been done for the day. Instead, he got back up, straightened his handlebars, put his chain back on, adjusted his seat as best he could, and kept going.

He finished the bike leg, then ran past me yelling, "I crashed!" while bleeding and still pushing forward.

And he didn't just finish. He finished 4th overall, set a PR in the mile run, and missed the podium by just half a second.

The results are impressive, but they're not what made me proud.
What made me proud was watching him face adversity, refuse to quit, and get back up after getting knocked down.

Sports teach a lot of things, but some of the most important lessons have nothing to do with winning: resilience, perseverance, grit, and the belief that when life knocks you down, you get back up and keep moving forward.

Today, he lived that lesson.

Family time at the youth Triathlon tonight. I really loved seeing how many kids came to swim, Bike, and run.

Is this an aero road bike or gravel bike? Big 50t front and aero wheels with Conti GP5000s or 46t with super light Berd wheels and 45mm gravel tires? Which do you prefer?

Thanks CycleX for carrying these awesome bikes that allow me to do whatever type of riding I feel like this week.
