Indiana’s Jeffersonville High School is announcing the hire of Doug Preston as it’s new Football Head Coach. Preston has spent over 2 decades on the job, including winning 2 Kentucky State Championships.
Preston just retired from North Hardin High School, but the 55-year-old told WJHI that he’d hoped to give it another try in Indiana.
Preston said “I wanted to keep coaching and I was looking across the river to not be limited by retirement issues. I got excited talking with Jeffersonville Athletic Director A.J. Moye.”
It’s Moye’s first year on the job and he knows this hire will help define his early work here. Moye said “He blew us away. The best interview we were a part of. He knows how to touch people, leave indelible marks on them. Why not Doug Preston?”
Preston said a friend and fellow coach called this “the best job in Southern Indiana. It’s a hidden gem.”
Preston replaces Joe Washington with the Red Devils. He’s the 7th Football Head Coach at Jeff in the last 16 seasons.
Preston knows the job ahead is challenging.
Moye thinks he’s found the perfect person to bring stability and success to a program that’s hungering for both.
Moye said “I was praying to God I’d find a guy to lead these kids the right way. I’m grateful He sent Doug Preston my way.”
