Listen: Amanda DeMasi, LIVE from Honesdale’s Central Park Protest

Three young women from Honesdale planned a peaceful protest against racism. Then they saw some threats and rumors of violence and unrest and canceled it. Amanda DeMasi, one of the orginial event planners who worked hard to make it happen tells WJFF the whole story LIVE from Honesdale’s Central Park as the successful protest was winding down.

Listen: Monticello’s Protest: Local activist Cristal Staten

The Village of Monticello has been embroiled in a scandal regarding the use of racial slurs. Mayor Gary Sommers released five press releases in one week that never described what was happening. The releases started by saying the village “in no way…condones the use of any racial slurs” and was working on the problem, and culminated Thursday with a clarification that he, Mayor Sommers, has not resigned. To fill in the rest of the story, WJFF talked to local activist Cristal Staten.
