Society has a way of turning beautiful things into sick, distorted versions of life.

I Am Not My Biological Father’s Sweetheart



He called me *princess* once,
as if the word could erase the years
he spent building kingdoms without me.

I learned early
that love can sound like apology
spoken too late,
and still echo like thunder
in a house that forgot my laughter.

His eyes hold stories
I was never written into—
chapters of sons, of wives, of promises
that never learned my name.

I am not his sweetheart.
I am the silence between his sentences,
the daughter who grew roots
in soil he never touched.

But I am not broken.
I am the bloom that rose
from absence,
the pulse that found rhythm
without his heartbeat beside mine.

And if he ever looks for me
in the mirror of regret,
he’ll find only reflection—
not the child he lost,
but the woman who learned
to love herself whole.
