🚫 COURTHOUSE WEAPONS BAN – JEROME
Starting tomorrow, weapons will be prohibited inside the Jerome County Courthouse on North Lincoln Avenue. County commissioners say the move follows security reviews and recent events, stressing the safety of employees, officials, and the public. There will be exemptions for law enforcement and legally authorized individuals.
⛽ GAS PRICES – IDAHO
AAA says the state average for regular gas is $3.49 a gallon down three cents from last week, but still eighth-highest in the nation. The national average is $3.13. AAA says winter-blend fuel could bring more savings, though refinery maintenance or hurricane activity could drive prices back up.
HOUSE FIRE – TWIN FALLS
Twin Falls firefighters knocked down a house fire on Valencia Street in just minutes yesterday afternoon. Flames spread on the back of the home around 3:30, briefly threatening nearby buildings, but no other damage or injuries were reported.
🏥 MEDICAID EXPANSION – STATE REVIEW
Idaho’s DOGE Task Force is weighing cuts or even repeal of Medicaid expansion, which covers over 87,000 people. Lawmakers reviewed cost-saving ideas like work requirements, higher copays, and shifting some participants to private insurance. Officials warned many changes need federal approval and could reduce Idaho’s 9-to-1 federal match.
🏛️ CITY HALL REMODEL – TWIN FALLS
Twin Falls City Council approved a $1.4 million remodel of the old council chambers on Third Avenue East. The project creates a larger employee gym and new office space for the city’s legal department. The price also covers a new lift and stairway at the police department, coming in well under the $2 million budget.
🏗️ COUNTY BUILDING PROJECT – CASSIA
Cassia County will break ground on a new two-story office building tomorrow at 1:30 on Overland Avenue, the site of the old Masonic Lodge. The project will house the assessor, auditor, treasurer, and elections offices, with space for future growth. Officials say no bond is needed, with funding coming from multiple sources, including federal COVID relief funds.
🚑 DOORDASH DRIVER ASSAULT – MOSCOW
A 26-year-old DoorDash driver, Austen Dawson, is in a coma after a fight with a University of Idaho fraternity student near Greek Row. Police say the student had minor injuries and was removed from Phi Delta Theta. No arrests have been made. A GoFundMe for Dawson’s medical bills has raised over six thousand dollars.

From the local high school soccer games, first on the boys’ side, Mountain Home edged Burley one-nil, while Jerome cruised past Minico ten-nothing. Burley will host Minico tomorrow. Tonight’s boys’ soccer slate kicks off at 5:45 — Gooding at Bliss, Filer at Buhl, Sun Valley Community School at Kimberly, and Declo visiting Wendell. Later at 7:30, Canyon Ridge heads to Highland in Pocatello.
⚽ GIRLS SOCCER – CONFERENCE PLAY
In girls’ action, Mountain Home rolled past Burley seven-nil. Burley travels to Minico Wednesday. Today’s girls’ conference games start at four o’clock — Gooding at Bliss, Filer at Buhl, Highland at Canyon Ridge, Sun Valley Community School at Kimberly, and Declo at Wendell.
🏐 VOLLEYBALL – WOOD RIVER
In volleyball, Wood River topped Burley three sets to one. Burley is back home tomorrow to face Jerome.
🎉 JEROME LIA FUNDRAISER
Jerome High’s Latinos in Action kicked off the year with a soccer game cookout fundraiser during National Hispanic Heritage Month. The group focuses on leadership, service, and sharing culture. Students are also collecting candy donations for the upcoming homecoming parade and trunk-or-treat.
🏈 BOISE STATE WATCH PARTY
Bronco Nation — Boise State is hosting a free watch party at Albertsons Stadium this Saturday, October 4, as the Broncos face Notre Dame in South Bend. Gates open at 12:30, kickoff at 1:30 on the big south end zone video board. Parking is free with online registration, and concessions will be open. Seating available in the west stands and on The Blue.
🏈 IDAHO VANDALS – NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Idaho Vandals are ranked 12th in the Stats Perform Top 25 and 15th in the AFCA Coaches Poll — their 40th straight week in the rankings. Boise State’s October 11th home game against New Mexico is set for a 7:45 kickoff on FS1. The Broncos have won 14 straight at Albertsons Stadium, tied with Alabama for the third-longest home streak in the nation, and have seven straight wins on FS1. The matchup is already sold out, the 11th consecutive sellout on The Blue. First, Boise State heads to Notre Dame this Saturday, October 4th, at 1:30 on NBC.
