Most grandparents head to the park. We took our grandsons to… prison.

We are sharing a very "Honest Version" of our day at the Old Idaho Penitentiary in Boise.

It started with McDonald’s, got a little bit intense, and ended with an Idaho Baked Potato ice cream dessert they will never forget.

This trip was supposed to be all about fun with the grandkids… then our brand-new RV got our attention for a completely different reason. 😳🚐

We still had a great time, but there were definitely a few surprises along the way.

How close is TOO close?

On our latest RV trip, we stayed at a KOA campground that had some great amenities, plenty for the grandkids to do, and a convenient location. But when we got parked, we couldn’t help but notice just how close some of the RV sites were.

In this video, we are sharing the good and the bad, including site spacing, road noise, campground amenities, family activities, and our honest thoughts after staying there.

Before our first family camping trip in the new RV, we decided it was finally time to see what the scales had to say. Was our rig ready for the test?

We headed to the Twin Falls / Jerome KOA for a weekend with our grandsons that included swimming, Shoshone Falls, Gaga Ball, campfires, and plenty of family memories along the way.

We thought planning this RV trip six weeks ahead would make things easier, but honestly, it turned into way more work and stress than we expected.

Between campground booking windows, weather, tolls, fuel prices, route planning, low clearances, and trying to make sure we have reliable power during summer heat and humidity, it started feeling like every decision created three more decisions.

This video is really about something bigger though. We are starting to realize that maybe part of RV life is learning to let go of trying to control every little part of the journey and that is not easy for us.

What started as a normal drive home from the Oregon coast turned into one of the most stressful RV travel days we have had in a long time.

Our RV door suddenly flew open while towing… and then it happened again on Interstate 84 with nowhere safe to pull over.

This one definitely reminded us how quickly things can go wrong on travel days and how important it is to stay calm and focus on safety.

What should have been a simple arrival at Thousand Trails Seaside turned into one of the most tense towing days we have had in a long time. 😬

Tight roads, confusion, stress, and yes… a few snapped comments between us. Sometimes RV travel is peaceful and relaxing. Other times, it feels like everything is happening at once.

We took the new RV out on its very first real trip.

After selling our Keystone Cougar and upgrading to a 2026 KZ Durango Gold 310RLQ, this was the moment we found out if we actually made the right decision.

Even though it is almost 4 feet longer and heavier, towing was not the biggest surprise. What really stood out was how different it felt once we got set up at camp.

We filmed our honest first impressions during our shakedown trip to Y Knot Winery RV Park, including the specific changes that already feel like major improvements for us.

We sold our fifth wheel.

After a lot of back and forth, we made the decision to move on from our Cougar and try something different. It wasn’t an easy choice, and even now, we are not completely sure if it was the right one.

Today, we picked up our new RV and this is our first look at it.

Exciting… a little nerve-wracking… and very real all at the same time.

If you have ever made a big RV decision and wondered afterward if you got it right, you’ll understand exactly how this feels.
